Before Chapel Hill and Chicago, Michael Jordan played high school basketball at Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina. Its blue and yellow first reached the Jordan line on an Air Jordan 5 in 2000, then on an Air Jordan 1 in 2013. The womens Air Jordan 1 High OG Reverse Laney, released in February 2023, flips that 2013 colour blocking.
Varsity Maize now fills the toe box, quarter panels and collar, while Game Royal covers the mudguard, eyestays, Swoosh, heel and collar flaps. The upper is all leather, with a black Wings logo on the collar. Small hits of black and Fire Red on the tongue label nod to the Chicago chapter that came next.
